At check out, my husband explained to the staff how horrible it was and all they said was, "sorry".

It was beautiful and looked new on the inside. With the cabin being on the end, we had amazing views. The cabin was clean, the scenery was very peaceful.

My friend was vomitting it was so bad. Thankfully it was a nice night so we sat outside most of the time.

Downfall: the smell in the cabin was horrific. When we checked in at 3 we thought they had just cleaned the septic tank (we saw the guy on the boat going from cabin to cabin with a tank and long hose) and thought the smell would fade.

We couldn't sleep because of the smell. It was in our clothes, it was horrid.

And whoever runs the dam store has 0 customer service skills. Not a single "hello" "thank you" absolutely nothing.

The floating cabins are great for a weekend get away. The only problems we had were the spiders. But they were outside. Great fishing.

As beautiful as the scenery was, we won't be returning.

My wife and I reserved for 3 nights and extended 1 more. The cabin was clean and well with the amenities . Beautiful views, friendly staff, and fishing right off the back porch. We read the reviews before we went but, its like any other travel destination.....some people can never be happy. We enjoyed our stay and it was close enough we got to see Ruby Falls, Rock City, and Lookout Mt. Good time and we will be back.

It didn't. It got worse, and unbearable. Clearly, it was sewage back up. I called the office at 7pm and they blew me off stating the smell would go away in a few minutes.

This is my secret go to place. The water is calming and the cabins are great and the staff is awesome. Have been going here for years. It's a hidden jewel. It is haunted but very fascinating.

Horrible horrible customer service.

We rented a 1 bedroom floating cabin last Saturday night. We had cabin #18 on the very end.

Very disappointing. When I called regarding the issue, staff should have addressed the issue but chose to blow it off instead.

We had a nice time and look forward to being back next year. My wife and I stayed there the weekend of November 4th, 2017. We came by water from Chattanooga through the Tennessee River Gorge, and thus needed an overnight place to stay via the water (as opposed to coming by car). The floating cabins are ideal for us. We've done this many times; typically once a year in the fall. So, as to the review: We heard that Hales Bar has a new marina manager; being the person who runs the ships store now. His influence shows. Good job! The floating cabins have been painted and the couch in the living area was pretty new and firm. The mattress on the bed also appeared to be of recent vintage and we had a nice night's sleep. The cabin was acceptably clean. The staff (every one we encountered) was very nice and friendly. So, here is the thing to remember. Despite it's name, this is not a "resort" in the usual use of the word. This is a marina that has places to stay overnight. The floating cabins are not hotel rooms. Essentially they are floating campers and they have the same issues that a boat in an open slip has. They will move with wake coming into the marina, and you are on the water, so you must expect the same thing every boat owner does. It is impossible to have them spider-free, and they suffer wear & tear that a fixed land cottage does not. The bathroom outflow goes to a holding tank that has to be pumped out (they do it) periodically; just like a boat or camper. If you manage your expectations, and don't expect an interstate type hotel experience, you will be fine. And, they give you the opportunity to have a nice water-based trip and have a place to stay overnight. Also, the restaurant is under new management and is now Mexican fare. Very friendly staff and the food was surprisingly very good. Sitting on the back porch and watching a full moon coming over the mountain was wonderful! We will look forward to coming back next year. One thing for the "suggestion box." They need to put some used tires or bumpers on the back porch of the floating cabins so you don't scratch you boat against the bolts that are part of the supports for the cabin.
